There are just three games on the Thursday slate this week, but they all have NRFI betting value. The pitchers in these games are strong, and the offenses have been very inconsistent.

Best NRFI Bets Today 2026 04 02 Mets David Peterson

Twins vs. Royals - Taj Bradley vs. Cole Ragans (2:10 PM EST)

Under 0.5 Run (-113) at FanDuel Sportsbook

The Minnesota Twins take on the Kansas City Royals in a matchup featuring Taj Bradley and Cole Ragans.

Ragans has potential, even though he started the season poorly. His high-velocity fastball paired with a sharp slider allows him to generate strikeouts at an elite rate.

However, he is 0-1 with a 9 ERA and a 2.5 WHIP on the season. Nevertheless, he should be ready to get back on the mound.

Bradley brings a similar profile on the other side with electric stuff and the ability to overpower hitters. He started the season strong with a 2.08 ERA in 4.1 innings with nine strikeouts.

His strikeout rate is critical for NRFI success because he can get himself out of trouble.

Offensively, both teams have some power, but neither lineup is known for consistently fast starts. There is limited home run power as well based on the first week of the season.

Braves vs. Diamondbacks - Reynaldo Lopez vs. Ryne Nelson (9:40 PM EST)

Under 0.5 Run (-106) at FanDuel Sportsbook

The Atlanta Braves face the Arizona Diamondbacks with Reynaldo Lopez taking on Ryne Nelson.

Lopez’s ability to generate strikeouts gives him a strong edge in the first inning, where escaping jams without allowing contact is key.

Nelson, while not as overpowering, has shown flashes of being able to limit damage early in games. He started the season poorly compared to Lopez, so he should be hungry for his second chance on the hill.

The Braves lineup is one of the most dangerous in baseball, but even elite offenses can take time to get going. Ronald Acuna Jr. hasn’t started hitting yet, so it’s still a great time to play a NRFI with the Braves.

While this matchup carries a bit more risk due to Atlanta’s firepower, I expect Nelson to locate early, making it tough on the Braves.

Mets vs. Giants - David Peterson vs. Robbie Ray (9:45 PM EST)

Under 0.5 Run (-154) at FanDuel Sportsbook

The New York Mets take on the San Francisco Giants in a matchup featuring David Peterson and Robbie Ray.

Ray is the key piece in this matchup. As a former Cy Young winner, he has elite strikeout ability and can dominate hitters early in games. Ray started his season with four strikeouts in 5.1 innings of work.

Peterson is more of a command-based left-hander, but he has shown the ability to limit damage when he’s locating effectively. The Giants offense has been putrid, batting just .201 as a team with a .264 OBP.

With Ray’s strikeout upside and Peterson’s ability to keep hitters off balance, this game offers solid value considering neither offense has been sharp.
