Red-hot hitters are often the best home run targets. Byron Buxton fits that description at the moment after he went 3 for 5 with a home run on Sunday. With 25 home runs on the season, Buxton is among the best power hitters in baseball this year. Even with the off day on Monday, Buxton is a good candidate to keep it going on Tuesday when the Twins host the A’s.
Lefty Jacob Lopez is starting for the A’s, which plays into Buxton’s favor as well. While he’s had just 70 at-bats against lefties this year, Buxton is batting .300 with six home runs and a .643 slugging percentage in that limited sample size. On the flip side, Lopez has had a good season, although 10 of the 11 home runs he’s allowed have come against right-handed hitters, which works in Buxton’s favor despite just two previous at-bats against Lopez.
Since he’s an obvious target to hit a home run, Buxton has modest +285 odds to hit a home run on Tuesday. But if you use the Dinger Tuesday promo, those odds jump to +430. That means a $10 bet will give you a $43 profit if Buxton hits a home run on Tuesday.
