Sports bettors be sure to watch this exciting NFL Week 10 AFC cross-divisional matchup between the AFC North’s Cleveland Browns and the AFC East’s Miami Dolphins, a curious game since the Browns are more productive on both sides of the ball but the Dolphins have won twice as many games as them, with lots of fun bets so here are our predictions, odds, and picks.
Miami has failed to cover the spread in each of their last six games and Cleveland is coming off a bye week where they have had time to rest and rehab their dinged-up players, this clash most likely coming down to whether the Browns’ secondary including rookie CB Martin Emerson can cover the Dolphins’ deep threat receivers Tyreek ‘Cheetah’ Hill and the almost as speedy Jaylen Waddle.
This game could also be decided on whether Miami’s 15th-ranked rushing defense can stop arguably one of the best RB duos in the league, Browns Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt, while Cleveland’s sack specialist DE Myles Garrett will be making Miami QB Tua Tagovailoa’s life a living nightmare, a young lefty who is fast becoming one of the NFL’s best men under center.
The oddsmakers are predicting this game to produce a combined score of 48.5 points and it is up to the bettor to guess if the actual results will be over or under that prediction, a fun gamble given that five of Cleveland’s last six road games have gone under the total points line, which is no surprise given the low scoring that has been occurring with most of the NFL teams this season.
Here is how these two teams’ scoring tendencies break down – Cleveland the underdog has a QB Jacoby Brissett-led offense that produces 25 points per game whereas Miami’s offense helped by RBs Raheem Mostert and Jeff Wilson on average generate 23.7 points per game, that total of 48.7 just over what the oddsmakers are predicting, something to keep in mind here.
These two defenses rank middle of the road – Browns 15th, Phins 23rd – so there could be some big scoring in Miami Gardens on Sunday with Cleveland’s group allowing an average of 24.9 points per game and Miami’s defense allowing 24.9, as well, that 58.8 combined total over what this bet allows, so if you think these defenses are going to slip a bit then the over is the better wager.
Miami has won nine of their last 10 games at Hard Rock Stadium plus they have won the last three games in a row, so Dolphins fans are no doubt feeling confident their team can take care of these 3-win Browns who have been underperforming this season while being led by interim QB Jacoby Brissett who is in until the suspended starter Deshaun Watson can step on in.
This money line bet can be tricky for new sports gamblers but in this case, if you think the Browns will win outright you can bet $100 and if Cleveland does win (despite their visitor half of the field being the only side exposed to the Florida sun) then that winning bet will pay out $160 plus the original investment, whereas for Dolphins fans it will take a $200 bet to win back $100 plus the wager.
Some key injured players to keep an eye on for the Cleveland Browns are star TE David Njoku (ankle) and CB Denzel Ward (concussion) and Pro Bowl OG Wyatt Teller (calf) whereas for the Miami Dolphins only two players are listed as questionable – WR River Cracraft (illness) and OT Austin Jackson (ankle), so check back in before game time to see which players will suit up.
