Packers vs Colts Predictions and Picks

This will most likely be the best game of the week, and to win it will take QB Rodgers beating the Colts top-ranked defense and Indy’s Rivers being neutralized, but the opposite totally could happen, so take your favorite in this one, we’ll take potential MVP Rodgers and Green Bay.

Pick:

Packers +2 (-110)

After ten weeks of pro football, the Green Bay Packers are 7-2 and quarterback Aaron Rodgers is having an MVP caliber season, so far having thrown for 26 touchdowns with just 3 interceptions and looking like the future Hall of Famer he most likely will be some day.

Last week, the Indianapolis Colts got the win over the Titans as quarterback Philip Rivers had one of his better games of the season throwing for over 300 yards and a touchdown with no interceptions, making it clear that he has acclimated to his new National Football League home and he is hungry for (and capable of) the postseason.

These two cross-conference rivals have met each other 45 times (including 1 postseason game), with the Indianapolis Colts winning 23 of those games and the Green Bay Packers winning 21 of them, plus there has been one tie.

Can the Packers Rushing Attack Begin to Make a Difference?

The Packers rushing attack is ranked 11th in the league right now, and RB Aaron Jones is the reason, the bullish back a hassle to take down, that is if you can even catch him.

Jones has played in 7 games so far this season and has 103 rushes for almost 500 yards and 5 touchdowns, a player who last year led the league in rushing touchdowns with 16, so he still has a lot more to go to even come close to that impressive total.

For Rodgers to succeed, it would be helpful to have an effective run game to force the defense to game plan around that, too, and with a veteran as talented and football wise as Rodgers controlling the game, it will be a safe bet that the Packers rushing attack via Jones will be part of the equation.

Can the Colts QB Rivers Go Head to Head with Packers QB Rodgers?

Colts QB Philip Rivers had a fun 1-touchdown pass game last week in the team’s win over the Titans, but he has had two games with 3-touchdown passes in each (Week 6 and 8) and that is the type of production it might take to win in Week 11.

Rivers is a competitor who will see this matchup with another veteran like Rodgers as the perfect place to see who is better, at least for that moment, and since Rivers is just the 12th ranked QB right now, he has a lot to prove against the 6th best QB in the league in Rodgers.

Rivers is slightly more accurate this season, but Rodgers has more touchdowns (26) than Rivers (11) by a landslide, so expect this competition to be all about Rivers making up some of that ground.

Editor’s Picks

Packers Key Player: (WR) Davante Adams

The Green Bay Packers may have the top receiver in the league right now in Davante Adams, the healthy target a favorite of QB Aaron Rodgers this year, so far with 81 targets and 61 catches for 741 yards and a league-leading 9 touchdowns.

Adams also leads the league in reception yards per game with 105.9, an elite receiver who at 6’ 1” and 215 pounds is a tough man to cover, especially given his speed and experience running tricky routes.

For Green Bay to beat the Colts’ top-notch defense, Adams and Rodgers will have to be clicking, and that means the quick receiver will have to get open and make the catch, something he is quite comfortable doing.

Colts Key Player: (WR) TY Hilton

This game is going to have two passers battling each other head to head, so the Colts QB Rives will need a dependable target to help him win that competition, and receiver TY Hilton has proven time and time again that he is the man for the job.

Hilton has decent numbers this season, so far catching 26 passes for 291 yards but no touchdowns, a speedy deep threat that pulls defenses towards him with double teams allowing his fellow Colts receivers more of the field.

For the Colts to get the Week 11 win, Rivers will have to play his best game of 2020 yet, and Hilton will be a key to that success if he can do what he does, which is get open and come down with the ball, and maybe finally score his first touchdown (or two) of the season.
