With Shohei Ohtani and Cal Raleigh in slumps and Aaron Judge just getting back from the IL, many of the obvious home run candidates aren’t a good bet right now. That means we had to do some outside-the-box thinking on Wednesday. Nevertheless, we feel good about the players we found for Wednesday’s home run props.

Obviously, Kyle Schwarber is the obvious target on the Phillies, but not with the team facing lefty Trevor Rogers on Wednesday. Rogers boasts a 1.44 ERA and has given up just one run in his last 15 innings. However, Castellanos is 4 for 9 with a home run in his career against Rogers, so he’ll be a threat despite Rogers’ recent success.
Castellanos has better power numbers against lefties and has hit 10 of his 15 home runs this season at home. Those factors both play into his favor for Wednesday’s game. Castellanos also has a six-game hitting streak and hit a home run earlier on the team’s homestand, so he’s in a nice groove right now.

Diaz and the Rays face lefty Tyler Anderson on Wednesday. With 23 home runs allowed, Anderson is among the most vulnerable pitchers in baseball when it comes to homers. Across his last two starts, Anderson has allowed five home runs over just 10.2 innings, so it stands to reason that someone on the Rays will take him deep.
The Rays have three players with at least 20 home runs this season, but Diaz leads the team with nine home runs against lefties. That’s why we chose Diaz, who slugs .552 against southpaws. Plus, Diaz is just a few days removed from a two-homer game on Saturday, so he has a chance to bust out that power again on Wednesday.

If you don’t know Montgomery, now is the perfect time to get acquainted with him. The White Sox rookie has hit eight home runs in the first 26 games of his career. He bats left-handed, with five of those eight home runs and a .617 slugging percentage coming against right-handed pitchers.
Montgomery has also homered in four of his last five games and five of his last seven games. He and the White Sox face righty George Kirby on Wednesday. Kirby has given up nine homers in just 72 innings this year, with left-handed hitters accounting for seven of them, putting Montgomery in a favorable position.

This is a bet that Alonso will make a little bit of history. His next home run will tie him with Daryl Strawberry for the most in Mets history. Alonso has already hit three home runs in his last five games during the team’s current homestand, and it would be fitting for him to tie the record before the Mets go on the road this weekend.
In addition to being in the midst of a power surge, Alonso has been far more dangerous against right-handed pitchers, hitting 18 of his 25 homers against them and slugging .539 against righties. That bodes well for his first meeting with Cleveland’s Gavin Williams, who has been vulnerable to the long ball at times, yielding 15 homers, most of which have come with the Guardians on the road.
