Believe it or not, the top home run hitters in baseball don’t always have favorable matchups when it comes to going deep. That means looking beneath the surface for hitters who are in a groove or have a favorable pitching matchup. That’s what we did on Wednesday to find four hitters who have excellent value for a home run prop.

Adames is coming off an unscheduled offday after getting ejected early in Tuesday’s game. That means he’ll come back on Wednesday feeling refreshed and with an axe to grind against the Rockies. Of course, Adames is also a player who hit nine home runs in August and has four home runs in the last five games in which he wasn’t ejected.
Facing German Marquez at Coors Field should also help Adames go deep on Wednesday. In seven at-bats against Marquez, Adames has just two hits, but both were home runs. Plus, Marquez has allowed eight homers over his last six starts, so at least one or two Giants are likely to take him deep, with Adames being a top candidate.

For a player with 27 home runs, Yelich always seems to have lucrative odds for home run props. He’s coming off a seven-homer month in August, so it’s not as if he’s slowing down. Yelich’s last home run came on Saturday, and his next one may not be far behind.
Surprisingly, facing Aaron Nola on Wednesday plays into Yelich’s favor. Yelich has seen a lot of Nola over the years, with 39 career at-bats against him, managing 11 hits, including one home run. Keep in mind that Nola hasn’t been himself this year, pitching to a 6.47 ERA and giving up eight home runs over his last five starts.

Grisham’s shockingly good season continued on Tuesday with yet another home run. He’d never hit more than 17 home runs in a season before this year, and now he’s on the verge of hitting 30. More importantly, Grisham has hit six homers over his last nine games, making him a good bet to homer on any given day.
Grisham and the Yankees have a favorable matchup against journeyman Jason Alexander on Wednesday. Left-handed hitters are slugging .517 this season against Grisham, who’s also allowed four homers over his last three starts. While Grisham is 0 for 3 in his career against Alexander, that doesn’t mean much with the way he’s swinging the bat right now.

Zack Littell is starting for the Reds on Wednesday, so it’d be foolish not to bet on someone on the opposing team taking him deep. Littell has given up 30 homers this year, with only Washington’s Jake Irvin allowing more. It’s actually been right-handed hitters who have hit more home runs and posted a better slugging percentage against him, leading us to Guerrero.
For starters, Guerrero is 4 for 7 with a home run in his career against Littell. Even if that’s a small sample size, it points to Guerrero being comfortable in the box against Littell. After a three-hit game on Tuesday, Guerrero is 5 for 12 over his last three games. He’s heating up, so his power can’t be far behind.
