Runs were at a premium in Game 1 of the NLCS on Monday, with the Dodgers winning 2-1. But that could be about to change in Game 2. The Dodgers, in particular, had some rust to shake off after three days off. In Game 2, look for them to be ready to take advantage of a favorable matchup and hit some home runs, which is why we’re leaning heavily toward them for home run props on Tuesday.

Ohtani has been largely quiet this postseason, at least outside of his two home runs in Game 1 of the Wild Card round. But he just needs some pitches to hit after drawing three walks in Game 1 of the NLCS. That means he isn’t pressing and is seeing the ball well, so Ohtani is ready to strike at any time.
Equally important, Ohtani has strong career numbers against Freddy Peralta, who starts for the Brewers on Tuesday. He’s 3 for 9 with two home runs in his career against Peralta. It’s a small sample size, but it’s enough to get behind Ohtani, especially since his odds to homer are more lucrative than they’ve been for most of the season.

Speaking of Perlata, he’s one of the reasons why it’s a good idea to target multiple Dodgers to go deep in Game 2. Including his two starts in the NLDS, Peralta has allowed at least one home run in six straight starts. He’s allowed eight total home runs during that span, so he’s going to be vulnerable against a powerful Los Angeles lineup.
That leads us to Hernandez, who has already hit three home runs during the postseason. He also has a good track record against Peralta, going 2 for 7 with a double. While Hernandez has cooled off since his heroics against the Phillies, he’s always a power threat, especially given Peralta’s problems keeping the ball in the park lately.

For a long shot with good value, target the other Hernandez in the Los Angeles lineup. He’s 2 for 5 with a double in his career against Peralta. That’s a small sample size, but it does show that he’ll be comfortable and confident against Milwaukee’s starter.
Plus, Hernandez has an epic playoff track record that includes 15 home runs. He’s also batting .346 in the playoffs this season, including two hits and a double on Monday. While he’s yet to hit a postseason home run this year, Hernandez is trending in the right direction and is bound to have a big playoff moment sooner or later.

It would be a little unfair not to target at least one member of the Brewers to hit a home run. To be fair, Yoshinobu Yamamoto has allowed just two home runs in his last 44.2 innings, dating back to late August. Even after an uneven performance in his last start, Yamamoto isn’t likely to give up much against the Brewers.
That being said, Vaughn has already hit two homers in the playoffs, despite hitting a modest 14 homers during the regular season. He’s come up big in big moments for the Brewers. Also, his only at-bat against Yamamoto was a three-run homer, so why not back Vaughn to do it again?
