Two of the most surprising teams of the 2025 MLB season are from the AL West. The Athletics and Seattle Mariners have outperformed offseason expectations early to lead the division, but Texas and Houston are quickly closing the gap.
Below, we’ll share our favorite bets for both teams today and one other we are locking in on Wednesday.

Run Line | Spread | Moneyline | Total |
---|---|---|---|
Yankees | -1.5 (+150) | -115 | Over 8 (-115) |
Mariners | +1.5 (-178) | -105 | Under 8 (-105) |
After an incredible offensive surge, the Seattle Mariners have cooled off in a big way. The Jays swept them over the weekend, getting outscored 21-7. Things haven’t looked much better to start this series, leading up to jumping on this moneyline bet.
Starter Will Warren (2-2, 4.75 ERA, 1.36 WHIP) won’t win the Yankees many games, but the 25-year-old dazzled in his last start. He held a formidable A’s lineup to just one run on four hits and a walk over 7 ⅓ innings. That start came on the road, but now he’ll return to the friendly confines of Yankee Stadium, where he owns a .185 OBA.
With the Mariners batting .227 over the last week, we expect Warren to have the upper hand tonight.
Seattle will have a veteran ace on the mound in Luis Castillo. He will return to Yankee Stadium for the first time since May of last year, where he held New York to just two runs over five innings. However, he allowed an OBA of .350, showing the run total was more luck than actual talent.
Considering that the Yankees own a team average above .300 over the last week, we expect them to do damage against the aging starter.

Run Line | Spread | Moneyline | Total |
---|---|---|---|
Rays | +1.5 (-170) | +118 | Over 8 (-110) |
Blue Jays | -1.5 (+143) | -140 | Under 8 (-110) |
The Jays come in as the hotter team in this matchup, but they’ll have an ice-cold starter on the mound in Chris Bassitt (3-2, 3.35 ERA, 1.23 WHIP). The 36-year-old was electric to start the season, but has been hammered hard over his last four starts, posting an ERA of 6.04. We saw the veteran regress in 2024, which appears to have continued into this season.
The Rays' lineup has not been great this season, but they do have some dangerous bats. The team also owns an impressive .917 against Bassitt over 44 at-bats, so we trust Tampa to come out on top tonight, even with Yandy Diaz out.
Tampa will have Ryan Pepiot (2-4, 3.86 ERA, 1.31 WHIP) on the mound tonight. The 27-year-old has delivered some mixed results since being acquired by the Rays in 2024, but he has been in a groove over the last month. The righty owns a 2.82 ERA and a 1.03 WHIP over his previous starts. He looked especially great facing the Phillies last week, allowing one run on two hits and two walks over six innings.
The Jays have not seen Pepiot before, and it will show when they struggle against him tonight.

Run Line | Spread | Moneyline | Total |
---|---|---|---|
Athletics | +1.5 (+105) | +215 | Over 8.5 (-105) |
Dodgers | -1.5 (-125) | -267 | Under 8.5 (+100) |
This is a terrible price for a run line, but it may be the safest bet of the day.
The A’s have had an incredible start to the season, but their Achilles heel has been the bullpen. Closer Mason Miller (11 SV, 4.70 ERA) is unreliable, while several other key relievers own ERAs above 5.00. They have been playing their worst baseball over the last week, and that won’t change against this elite Dodgers’ lineup.
The shaky bullpen will cost the A’s tonight with rookie Gunnar Hoglund (1-0, 2.38 ERA, 1.06 WHIP) on the mound. The 25-year-old has looked very good over his first two MLB starts, but those came against the Mariners and Marlins. Expect to see the pitcher show his youth as he takes on some of the top hitters in baseball tonight.
The Dodgers will have their ace on the mound in Yoshinobu Yamamoto (4-3, 1.80 ERA, 0.98 WHIP). The 26-year-old has developed far faster than anyone expected, already establishing himself as one of the league’s top pitchers. He is coming off a rough start against the D-backs, but that was a team that has seen him a few times before. The A’s won’t have that luxury, nor do they have Arizona’s offensive talent, which is why we are willing to overpay for this run line bet tonight.
