Best MLB Prop Bets Today May 26

Happy Memorial Day! Just because it’s a holiday doesn't mean baseball takes the day off. There are 12 games on the schedule, including several day games. That has given us plenty of opportunities to find prop bets worth considering.

Best MLB Prop Bets Today: Blue Jays vs. Rangers (4:05 PM, EST)

Jacob deGrom Under 4.5 Hits Allowed

The Blue Jays are a surprisingly difficult team to strike out, so if you want to target deGrom on Monday, bet on Toronto’s lack of hits against him. The entire Toronto roster is a combined 1 for 11 against deGrom, so most of the Blue Jays have never seen him before. The two-time Cy Young winner has been at his best in May, posting a 1.80 ERA over his last four starts. In 10 starts this season, deGrom has held teams to four hits or fewer six times. The mid-afternoon game in Arlington won’t make it any easier for the Blue Jays, who are likely to keep struggling after totaling just two runs on 14 hits over their last three games.

Best MLB Prop Bets Today: White Sox vs. Mets (4:10 PM, EST)

Juan Soto Under 1.5 Total Bases

The time to fade Soto has arrived. It looked like he was coming out of his slump with two hits on Saturday night. But he followed it up with another hitless game on Sunday. In fact, Saturday is the only time Soto has had an extra-base hit or multiple hits in his last 13 games. He’s also just 2 for 17 over his last four games and 1 for 7 in his career against Chicago starter Adrian Houser. Betting on Soto’s failure comes with decent odds, so until he shows clear signs of breaking out of his slump, he’s a good candidate to fade.

Clay Holmes Over 17.5 Outs

Holmes has become remarkably consistent when it comes to finishing six innings. He’s recorded exactly 18 outs in four consecutive starts, as well as five of his last six starts. Some of the results during that stretch have been inconsistent, but Holmes is finding a way to keep his pitch count down enough to get through six innings. It seems unlikely that the White Sox of all times will suddenly give him trouble. The entire Chicago roster is a combined 3 for 17 (.176) in their careers against Holmes, who should have a long and successful start on Monday.

Best MLB Prop Bets Today: Pirates vs Diamondbacks (8:10 PM, EST)

Ketel Marte Over 1.5 Total Bases

It would have been great to get plus-odds for this bet, but Marte is in the middle of such a hot streak that we’ll have to settle for -125 odds. Marte is in the middle of an eight-game hitting streak, with four multi-hit games in his last 10 games. He also has five home runs and a pair of doubles over those 10 games, so the power has been there. While his numbers against lefties are somewhat modest, Marte is 4 for 10 in his career against Pittsburgh starter Andrew Heaney. Three of those four hits have gone for extra bases, which is another reason why we like Marte for this bet.

Ryne Nelson Under 4.5 Hits Allowed

Despite being used as a long man out of the bullpen for most of the season, Nelson will get the start on Monday. He threw five solid innings against the Dodgers last Tuesday, so another good performance can help solidify a spot in Arizona’s rotation. On all three outings this year in which he’s pitched at least four innings, Nelson has allowed three hits or fewer. All of those outings have come against the Mets or Dodgers, so he’s handled good offensive teams. Nelson should be able to replicate that success against the last-place Pirates. Plus, Nelson is unlikely to go beyond five innings because he’s not stretched out. A shortened outing should play into his favor.
