Best MLB Prop Bets Today May 30

Despite our limited options on Thursday, we hit on four of our five prop bets. That gives us confidence and momentum heading into Friday, which has a full slate of games. Of course, most of our focus is on the World Series rematch between the Dodgers and Yankees.

Best MLB Prop Bets Today: Pirates vs. Padres (9:40 PM, EST)

Nick Pivetta to Record Win

Pivetta hasn’t won a game in over a month, although he’s been dealing all season. He had one rough outing at Coors Field earlier this month, but Pivetta is back on track after allowing just two runs on six hits in 12 innings across his last two starts. Despite not winning a game in the past month, Pivetta is 5-2 with a 2.72 ERA, so he’s due for a victory. Keep in mind, the Padres are averaging 6.3 runs per game over their last four games, so they should give Pivetta run support against Mitch Keller. The Pirates are also 3-8 in games Keller has started this year, so things look good for Pivetta and the Padres.

Manny Machado Over 0.5 RBI

Machado has been an RBI machine lately, making this a good spot to target him. He’s in the middle of a six-game hitting streak and has an RBI in five of those six games. Machado typically hit behind Fernando Tatis Jr. and Luis Arraez, who help to give him plenty of RBI opportunities. Tatis and Arraez are also a combined 6 for 15 (.400) in their careers against Keller. There’s a good chance they’ll be on base for Machado, who also has solid numbers against Keller, going 4 for 14 with a home run against Pittsburgh’s starter.

Best MLB Prop Bets Today: Yankees vs. Dodgers (10:10 PM, EST)

Max Fried Under 5.5 Hits Allowed

Oddsmakers have bumped up Fried’s usual hit total because he’s facing the Dodgers. We were thrilled to see that because the lefty has only allowed more than five hits once in his last nine starts, and that game was at Coors Field. Obviously, the Dodgers have a potent lineup, although they were held in check by good pitching against the Mets last weekend, so Fried is capable of doing the same. Plus, some of the key figures in the Los Angeles lineup have a poor track record against Fried. Mookie Betts and Freddie Freeman are a combined 4 for 43 (.093) in their careers when facing Fried. Granted, a few others have had success against him, but if Fried keeps those hitters in check, he should limit the Dodgers to five hits or fewer.

Tony Gonsolin Over 2.5 ER

After running into trouble in his last two starts, Gonsolin is likely to struggle against the Yankees on Friday. To be fair, it was the Mets who got the best of him last time out. But in his start before that, Gonsolin allowed four runs over four innings against the Angels. He’s hurt himself with walks over the past month, and now Gonsolin has to face the team that leads the majors in walks. That alone is a bad omen for his chances on Friday. Even if the Yankees have been a little sluggish offensively in recent days, they’ve won nine of their last 10 games, averaging 4.7 runs per game during that stretch, so they should be in good shape against Gonsolin.

Trent Grisham Over 1.5 Hits/Runs/RBI

Out of everyone in New York’s lineup, Grisham has the best track record against Gonsolin. He faced him a lot during his time in San Diego, going 7 for 15 (.467) with two extra base hits. That bodes well for Grisham’s chances of being a catalyst for the Yankees on Friday. Keep in mind that Grisham typically hits in front of Aaron Judge, giving him protection and someone to drive him in if he gets on base. Despite only going over 1.5 hits/runs/RBI in four of his last eight games, the matchup against a struggling Gonsolin puts Grisham in a good position to hit this prop bet Friday night.
