Best Bills vs Bengals Prop Bets: Run Defenses Looking Vulnerable on Both Sides

  • The Bengals have allowed the second-most passing touchdowns in the NFL

  • Chase Brown is averaging 83.7 rushing yards per game over his last six games

  • James Cook had 177 total yards on 35 touches in Buffalo’s win over the Steelers last week

One of the marquee games on the Week 14 NFL schedule has to be the showdown between the Buffalo Bills and the Cincinnati Bengals. The Bills are fresh off a dominant win in Pittsburgh, but are still far from guaranteed a playoff spot. Meanwhile, a Thanksgiving night win combined with the return of Joe Burrow has put the Bengals in the playoff picture late in the season. That makes Sunday’s game critical for both teams, albeit for different reasons.

Despite opening the season as the clear favorites in the AFC East, the Bills trail the Patriots by two games with five weeks left. Yet, if you look at the current Super Bowl LX odds, the Bills are tied with the Patriots for the shortest odds among AFC teams. On the other side, the Bengals are far from the favorites, but they are still in contention to win the AFC North, which would have been thought of as impossible a month ago.

Even if neither team is where we expected them to be, Sunday’s Bills-Bengals game is huge for both sides, in addition to being a star-studded affair. That’s why we decided to take a close look at it and come up with our three favorite player props for this game.

Josh Allen Over 1.5 Passing Touchdowns (-130) at bet365 Sportsbook

Allen and the Bills have the benefit of facing one of the worst pass defenses in the NFL this week. Heading into Week 14, only the Cowboys have allowed more passing touchdowns than the Bengals. Even after holding Lamar Jackson without a passing touchdown last week, the Cincinnati defense is vulnerable. The likes of Aaron Rodgers, Caleb Williams, Jared Goff, and even Carson Wentz have all thrown multiple touchdowns against the Bengals, so why not Allen?

In fairness, Allen has just one passing touchdown in his last two games. In fact, he’s thrown multiple touchdowns just twice in his last six games. However, he began the season with five multi-touchdown games in the first six weeks of the season. Against a bad defensive team, he should have a field day. Plus, the Bills have added Gabe Davis and Brandin Cooks to the mix, while also putting Keon Coleman back in the mix, so the supporting cast around Allen is as good as it’s been all season.

Chase Brown Over 55.5 Rushing Yards (-110) at bet365 Sportsbook

Stopping the run has been one of Buffalo’s biggest weaknesses this season. The Bills have allowed the third-most rushing yards in the NFL, while giving 5.2 yards per carry, which is tied for the second-most in the league. The only logical thing to do is to target Cincinnati’s starting running back to have a big day.

Granted, the Bengals have one of the worst rushing attacks in the NFL, although that’s partially a result of playing from behind most of the season. Brown has been surprisingly productive lately, rushing for over 70 yards in five of his last six games, averaging 83.7 yards per game during that stretch. Even with backup Samaje Perine back from injury, Brown will get the bulk of the carries because he’s been far more productive lately. Given his numbers in recent weeks, topping 55.5 rushing yards against Buffalo’s defense shouldn’t be a problem.

James Cook Over 2.5 Receptions (+140) at bet365 Sportsbook

The Bengals aren’t off the hook because, like the Bills, they have one of the worst rush defenses in the NFL. They’ve also struggled to defend running backs in the passing game, which is why we’re targeting Cook’s receptions. The Cincinnati defense is allowing more than five receptions and over 46 receiving yards per game by opposing running backs.

Needless to say, that benefits Cook, who is a big part of Buffalo’s passing game. Cook has caught at least three passes in four consecutive games, and that seems likely to continue against the Cincinnati defense. Keep in mind that Cook had 177 total yards in 35 touches last week, so the Bills will be trying to get him the ball as often as possible and anyway they can against the Bengals.
