Charles Oliveira vs. Mateusz Gamrot - Lightweight Division

Originally scheduled to face Rafael Fiziev, Charles Oliveira will now be facing Mateusz Gamrot in the main event this weekend in Rio.

For many, this is Oliveira’s last chance to prove that he is still a championship contender. His last fight saw him face Ilia Topuria for the vacant Lightweight Championship, where the former champion was unlucky, as a series of punches knocked him out in the first. With this fight, the Brazilian will be fighting on home soil, and we are eager to see if he can bounce back and show that he still has what it takes to hang with the best fighters in the division.

In his way is Mateusz Gamrot, who arrives here off the back of a victory in May against Ludovit Klein, when he won by unanimous decision. This will be the Pole’s second time in a main event slot, but he will be battling his toughest opponent yet. Oliveira has duked it out with some of the biggest names the promotion has ever had to offer, so Gamrot’s skills will be really put to the test with this fight.

Deiveson Figueiredo vs. Montel Jackson - Bantamweight Division

Next up on the card is a battle which could have a devastating impact on the rest of the division between Deiveson Figueiredo and Montel Jackson.

Former two-time Flyweight Champion Figueiredo has been less than stellar in his recent performances in the UFC, meaning he has something to prove here. In May he took on Cory Sandhagen in a main event clash, where he suffered an injury to his left knee and dropped his guard, which Sandhagen was quick to capitalize on. This is Figueiredo's chance to rebuild some momentum, but he is facing off against an opponent with all of the physical attributes tipping in his favor.

Not only does Jackson have the size on his opponent, but he is entering this fight after six consecutive wins. In his last outing he took on Daniel Marcos, winning by unanimous decision in May. Jackson is known for his explosive knockouts, ending 53% of his fights this way. He’s going to have all of his striking ability on the table against Figueiredo in the Farmasi Arena if he wants to move up the Bantamweight rankings.

Vicente Luque vs. Joel Álvarez - Welterweight Division

Arguably one of the most slept-on fights of the evening, this one has Vicente Luque facing off with Joel Álvarez, in what should be great viewing due to the very different fighting styles on display.

Luque didn’t have his best on show last time out, tapping out after just two rounds having been locked in an anaconda choke by Kevin Holland. The “Silent Assassin“ will have been working with his camp to try and stop this from happening again, as he is taking on somewhat of a submission specialist in Álvarez.

The Spaniard “El Fenomeno” has had a good run as of late, winning his last three fights, including a first round knockout against Drakkar Klose back in December. Despite finishing his last two fights with knockouts, Alvarez favors a submission victory, ending 17 of his 25 career fights in this manner. If victorious against Luque, the rest of the division better start taking him a lot more seriously.

Joel Álvarez is the clear favorite to take this one and at the time of writing he is sitting at -560 odds with FanDuel.

Jhonata Diniz vs. Mario Pinto - Heavyweight Division

This Heavyweight clash will be one to watch, as both Jhonata Diniz and Mario Pinto are starting to build up impressive resumes within the world of MMA.

Diniz has only blotch on his copy so far, having his bout against Marcin Tybura ended by doctor stoppage in November 2024. Since then, he has been able to regain some momentum, defeating Alvin Hines by unanimous decision in June. Although he is proving to be somewhat of a formidable presence in the UFC, he has an undefeated behemoth standing between him and victory.

Pinto has been destroying opponents since his debut in the sport in 2021, winning all 10 of his career fights to date  and ending 60% of them in knockouts. Back in March he took on Austen Lane on his UFC debut, where a big right hook in the second completely incapacitated his opponent. He’ll be walking into Rio with a lot of confidence, but we will have to wait and see if this confidence is enough for him to remain undefeated.

Ricardo Ramos vs. Kaan Ofli - Featherweight Division

This Featherweight clash sees both fighters coming off losses, so it’s an important bout for both Ricardo Ramos and Kaan Ofli.

Ramos has had a fairly stable 13-year tenure within the world of mixed martial arts. He last faced Chepe Mariscal in March, when on the wrong end of a unanimous decision. This time he will be in front of a home crowd, so it will be interesting to see if his fellow countrymen can spur him on to victory this weekend. 

Olfi was also unsuccessful in his last dance. He took on Muhammad Naimov back in February, and like Ramos he was defeated by unanimous decision after three rounds. He will have been working hard with his coaches at Australian Top Team to not let this happen for a third time in a row, but this could be a tough ask against a partisan home crowd that will be cheering against him

This one is quite hard to call, but we are siding with Ricardo Ramos at -194 odds via FanDuel.
