The main event here will be a sight to behold, as Carlos Ulberg and Dominick Reyes have very similar builds, very similar records, but very different fighting styles.
Nicknamed “Black Jag”, Ulberg is red hot at the moment, with only one loss in his career in 2021. His last victory was in March when the panel of judges unanimously declared him the winner against Jan Blachowicz. Despite winning, Ulberg may have been a bit disappointed with that bout, as the Kiwi loves to finish his competition with knockouts, something he has been able to do in eight of his fourteen fights. He’ll be looking to put on an impressive performance this weekend. If he defeats Reyes he could be next in line for a title fight.
Reyes is on a streak of his own at the moment, winning his last three fights by knockout. “The Devastator” last stepped into the octagon in April, when he faced Nikita Krylov. The ending moments of this fight saw Krylov throw a left hand jab which Reyes perfectly countered with a left of his own, instantly putting his opponent on the mat. Like Ulberg, Reyes is a knockout artist. Expect both fighters to be looking for the quick finish.
We’ve got Carlos Ulberg walking away victorious in this one, and you can back him at -265 odds with FanDuel today.

The Jimmy Crute versus Ivan Erslan fight pits two similarly built fighters against one another, but the fighters will be bringing different approaches to the cage.
Jimmy Crute will be brimming with confidence, fighting in his home country in front of an incredibly passionate Aussie crowd. Crute has had a bit of a ropey start to his UFC career, winning under 50% of his fights within the promotion. His last fight saw him victorious against Marvin Prachnio: he locked in an armbar in the first, making his opponent tap. He will be hoping to have Erslan doing the same in this bout.
Erslan has had two fights in the UFC and has won neither, so he’ll be aiming to add a green ‘W’ next to his name against Crute. The Croatian big man was unlucky in his last showing against Navajo Stirling: declared “loser” by all three judges. Despite his recent results, Erslan has shown he has what it takes to defeat serious opponents with 71% of his career fights ending in knockouts. He will be looking to bounce back in Perth on Sunday morning.
Despite being the underdog, we’ve got Ivan Erslan taking this one at +154 odds with FanDuel.

JENKINS | TALE OF THE TAPE | TAVERAS |

In this Featherweight clash, the Aussie, Jack Jenkins faces off against the American, Ramon Taveras. We know who the crowd will be rooting for.
Jenkins was unlucky against Gabriel Santos in February. Santos applied a rear naked choke in the third while against the cage. He had no choice but to tap out to avoid further damage. “Phar” will want to rebuild some momentum against Taveras and show to the MMA world that he has what it takes to step up.
You don’t get a nickname like “The Savage” without being relentless inside the cage. Taveras earned his moniker after knocking out half of his opponents during his fighting career. Against Davey Grant he didn’t quite live up to this nickname, losing due to a unanimous decision. A skilled fighter, Reyes will need to muster up everything he has against this opponent and thousands of booing Australians to regain some confidence in Perth.
The bookies are expecting Jack Jenkins to lose this, but we think he’s got it in him. You can get -295 odds on Jenkins with FanDuel at the time of writing.

The matchmakers knew they would cook - or grill in the land down under - up a storm with this event, and Jake Matthews and Neil Magny will certainly throw a little lighter fuel on the BBQ.
Matthews has been on fire recently, picking up three consecutive victories: the most recent against Chidi Njokuani in July. One minute and nine seconds into the first round, Matthews locked in a rear naked choke, handing his opponent the loss. We don’t think “The Celtic Kid” will need a lucky charm fighting on home soil, but he does have one hell of an experienced fighter standing in his way.
Neil “The Haitian Sensation” Magny sure has learned a thing or two about the world of mixed martial arts during his 15 year career. He has taken on some of the best fighters to grace the octagon. In his fight with Elizeu Zaleski, he mounted his opponent’s back, threw a series of punches, and had referee Mark Smith stop the contest. Magny has been somewhat of a journeyman in his career, but if he wants to prove to the world he’s much more than this, he’s going to have a job in the RAC Arena where he most certainly will be the villain.
Jake Matthews is the current favorite to take this one, bet on him today at +350 odds with FanDuel.

TAFA | TALE OF THE TAPE | SUTHERLAND |

Originally, this Heavyweight bout was set for the prelims, but Dana White and the rest of the UFC think that Justin Tafa’s fight with debutant Louie Sutherland was enough to make it onto the main card. Looking at the size of Sutherland we can see why.
Justin Tafa hasn’t lived up to his nickname since joining the UFC. The “Bad Man” has only managed to win 50% of his fights since joining the promotion in 2019. At UFC 312, he stood toe-to-toe with Tallison Teixeira. Tafa came in confident, however, within 35 seconds, Teixeira had him seeing stars, hitting him with a series of elbows and knees. The former XFC Heavyweight Champion has shown he has what it takes to succeed in Oz, but this weekend he has “The Vanilla Gorilla” standing in his way.
Spectators believe that Sutherland could cause an upset against Tafa, and it is clear to see why. He won the LFL Heavyweight Championship after knocking out Luke Newland in the first round. Sutherland is regarded as one of Europe’s heaviest hitters, ending 8 out of 13 fights with a KO. Dana White has faith in the Scotsman, and the world will be eager to see how he fares on this much grander stage.
Louie Sutherland is who we are backing, and you can bet on the newcomer at +102 odds with FanDuel.
