Bryson DeChambeau has won at a rate of 8% and made the top 10 in half of his 40 starts.

Joaquin Nieman has played 38 times, wins at 16%, and finishes top 10 58% of the time.

These numbers highlight just what a monster Rahm is at hitting the top 10 - but also just how much better Niemann is at winning.

This season alone, Niemann has four wins in eight starts and leads the rankings heading into the final five events of the campaign.

DeChambeau has a first and second in his last three starts while Rahm is yet to lift a trophy.

A missed cut when defending his US Open title last time out was a surprise after his superb form since the first week of April. Is that just a blip? It might be safe to say it is and, if so, beware because DeChambeau ticked off six straight top five finishes before his abbreviated week at Oakmont. However, he has a poor record in Texas: just one top 15 in 16 starts.

The Spaniard has a mixed record in the Lone Star State. He finished second in two of his first three visits but in six of his 13 starts he failed to break the top 30. He has finished T14, eighth, and seventh in the major championships this year but has also gone 15 starts without a win (despite finishing top 10 in 13 of those appearances).

For all his quite obvious brilliance on LIV, the Chilean remains an enigma in the major championships. True, he landed a fast-finishing eighth in the PGA Championship but he then carded two rounds of 75 to miss the cut in the US Open. DeChambeau a Fast Starter

In his current sparkling run of form, DeChambeau has been flying from the blocks.

At LIV Miami he was second after 18 holes. 

At LIV Mexico City he was the first round leader. 

At LIV Korea he shared the first round lead.

And at LIV Virginia he did the same thing.

That’s sparkling Friday golf and we can assume that he will be desperate to put on a high class performance in the aftermath of his US Open disappointment.

Koepka a Texan Ranger

Brooks Koepka has not yet won in Texas but he has come very close.

He was second in the 2016 Byron Nelson Championship, second in the 2017 Texas Open, and second in the 2018 Fort Worth Invitational.

He also recorded top fives in the 2016 WGC World Match Play, the 2019 Byron Nelson Championship, the 2020 Houston Open, and the 2022 WGC World Match Play.

He finished T12th last time out in the US Open, an event in which he was given a roasting by his English coach Peter Cowen.

The swing master was furious that Koepka was not working hard enough or playing with his brain.

The response? Koepka contended early in the week on his way to T12th. 

Because this week’s course is long and hard, it should suit Koepka and he can maintain his return to form.

There are good vibes for the Aussie Marc Leishman this week.

To start with, he returns to the scene of last year’s success for his Ripper team.

Then there’s the fact that this month he played a major championship for the first time since 2022, when T38th at the US Open.
