After a somewhat dull first half of the season, Trevor Story is once again playing like an MLB MVP. He’s batting .314 with 14 RBIs in August, despite registering just two home runs. The shortstop has posted at least five in three of the last four months, suggesting he will post a couple more before the end of the month.
Story has already had plenty of at-bats at Yankee Stadium, and has posted an impressive 1.099 OPS. He has gone deep once over his first 16 at-bats there, showing that his road struggles don’t carry over to the Big Apple.
Will Warren (7-5, 4.25 ERA, 1.37 WHIP) will be the first Yankee pitcher to face Story. The 26-year-old has had a rough season, though he’s looked sharper in August. While he has been great at home, it's also where he has given up the majority of his home runs.

Aside from a brief stint on the IL during the first half of August, George Springer has been one of the hottest hitters since the All-Star break. He is batting .397 with five home runs and an insane 1.153 OPS. It's clear he is benefiting from this impressive Toronto lineup, reminding us how dangerous a hitter he can be.
Springer hit the IL at the end of July, but returned on 8/16. The break didn’t slow down his momentum, with three home runs and a .316 average in his first five games back.
Springer will be facing Janson Junk (6-2, 4.04 ERA, 1.12 WHIP) to start this one. The right has been hammered in August, posting a 6.14 ERA and allowing five home runs over four starts (22 innings). He is struggling to miss bats, which will be a big problem with a red-hot George Springer coming to town.

Just when we thought we were out of caring about the AL Central, the Royals pull us right back in. The team has been red hot since the All-Star break, and Vinnie Pasquantino is a big reason why. The slugger’s 26 home runs have him tied for 16th in the league in the category, and he is showing no signs of slowing down.
The first baseman is coming off a series where he was playing his best baseball. In four games against a good Rangers team, he posted a .400 average and hit one home run in each game. He now has a total of eight home runs through the first 21 days of August.
We would back Pasquantino against almost any pitcher these days, but he has an exceptionally favorable matchup tonight. Tigers starter Chris Paddack (4-11, 5.10 ERA, 1.26 WHIP) is having the worst season of his sub-average career. Things have been especially bad in August, where he has allowed six home runs and gone 0-2 with a 7.63 ERA over 15 ⅓ innings (three starts).
