Today’s slate of games includes what could be the final matchup between two veteran stars. Salvador Perez and the Royals will be taking on Max Scherzer and the Blue Jays. We’ll share why we like Perez to take Scherzer deep one last time, as well as two other home run prop bets we love.

The longtime Royals catcher has 29 home runs on the season, and it crushing the ball in September. He has six home runs this month, with four coming over the last five games. While his batting average is far higher at home, 19 of his 29 long balls have come on the road this season.
Perez will be up against three-time Cy Young winner Max Scherzer (5-3, 4.31 ERA, 1.16 WHIP), who is far from the pitcher he once was. The 41-year-old had a three-game slump end last week against a bad Orioles team, holding them to two runs over five innings. However, he allowed 12 runs in his three previous starts (14 ⅓ innings). That streak included five home runs, showing that the former star is vulnerable.
Perez owns the edge against Scherzer over 34 at-bats, posting a .353 average and hitting three home runs.

Nobody is more excited to head to St. Louis this weekend than Christian Yelich. The former NL MVP is having a resurgent season for the Brew Crew, posting 29 home runs, 99 RBIs, and 16 stolen bases. He has two home runs over the last week, and we expect him to add another tonight.
While a lingering back injury has limited Yelich’s power, that hasn’t stopped him from batting .347 over his last 71 at-bats against the Crew’s NL Central rival; he’s registered just three home runs, but that was due to the injury. He had a serious procedure to fix it during the offseason, and it has paid off. Yelich has already hit the third most home runs of his career, which is his highest total since 2019, before the back injury took hold.
Yelich and the Crew will be matched up against Sonny Gray (13-8, 4.43 ERA, 1.22 WHIP) to start tonight’s game. The 25-year-old is having the worst season of his long career, and things don’t seem to be getting better. While he held the Brewers to two runs over five innings last week, he still owns a 6.61 ERA in September.

The Rockies' historic struggles have buried the 25-year-old All-Star’s impressive play, but he has been putting together a fantastic campaign. He’s been especially great at Coors Field, where he is batting .308 with 13 home runs and 47 RBIs. While he hasn’t homered in ten days, he will end that drought tonight.
We like Goodman because he’ll be at home at Coors Field, and facing a September call-up, Mitch Farris (1-1, 4.80 ERA, 1.20 WHIP). While he dazzled in his first start, he’s been hammered over his next two, allowing seven runs over ten innings. He gave up three home runs over those two games. Considering his recent struggles and his inexperience playing in hitter-friendly Denver, we expect him to get lit up tonight. Once that happens, he’ll turn things over to one of the league’s worst bullpens, giving Goodman some great chances to go deep.
