Michael Busch has seen his batting average continue to dive in September, but his power numbers have been solid. The 27-year-old has five home runs this month, with two coming over the last five days. That makes him a solid pick to go deep on most days, but there is even more reason to back him tonight.
The Cubs will be up against a familiar foe in Miles Mikolas (8-10, 4.76 ERA, 1.33 WHIP). The veteran Cardinals starter has been better in September, but has still been allowing way too many baserunners. Matchups helped him avoid big run totals, but that will change tonight.
Busch has faced Mikolas 13 times and posted a .385 average with two home runs.

While the NL Central Champion Brewers’ platinum glove winner has seen his power numbers dip in September, there is plenty of reason to back him to go deep tonight.
One reason is his .304 average over the last week. While he hasn’t logged a home run, it is clear he is seeing the ball well. We don’t expect that to change against a Reds team he’s batting .348 against this season.
Turang’s power numbers may be down, but he’ll have a great chance to change that with Zack Littell (10-8, 3.86 ERA, 1.10 WHIP) on the mound for Cincinnati. His 26 home runs allowed are tied for the most of any MLB pitcher in 2025. He gave up two long balls in his last start, showing he has yet to fix the problem.
While the Reds will be fighting for their postseason lives, the Brewers are trying to secure the top seed. That means they have plenty of reason to come out swinging tonight.

This is one of the weekend’s most anticipated matchups as the Mets look to hold on to the NL’s final playoff spot. The team gave Juan Soto a historic contract for moments just like these, and he has done just that. He’s batting .341 with eight home runs and 21 RBIs in September. Three of those home runs have come over the last week, and we believe he adds another tonight.
Soto and the Mets will be facing Sandy Alcantara (10-12, 5.48, 1.28 WHIP) to start tonight’s game. The former Cy Young winner has been better since the All-Star Break, but nowhere close to the level he was at before injuries took their toll. The righty has a 4.12 ERA in September over 19 ⅔ innings and has allowed four home runs.
Soto has faced Alcantara 43 times and taken him deep twice. Those numbers are boosted from when the pitcher was playing at an elite level. Expect those numbers to shift in Soto’s favor against this version of Alcantara tonight.
