Playoff time is always tricky for making home run props, especially on days like Monday when there are just two games on the schedule. But that doesn’t mean we’re not going to try. After all, home runs don’t just magically stop during the postseason. That’s why we picked one home run target from each team for Monday’s NLDS games.

Blake Snell getting the start for the Dodgers figures to make it tough on Philly’s hitters. He’s allowed just three home runs this season over 61.1 innings of work. He’s also yet to give up a homer to a left-handed batter. However, that still didn’t deter us from targeting Schwarber.
With 56 home runs during the regular season, Schwarber is coming off a special season. Of those 56, 23 came against left-handed pitchers, so he’s plenty comfortable against lefties. Despite going 2 for 14 against Snell in his career, one of those hits was a home run, giving Schwarber a chance to go deep on Monday, especially at hitter-friendly Citizens Bank Park.

In the postseason, it’s always a good idea to ride the hot hand. Right now, that’s Hernandez, who had two home runs in the Wild Card Round and another one in Game 1 against the Phillies on Saturday. He’s also 5 for 14 in the playoffs and has a nine-game hitting streak, so Hernandez is among the hottest hitters in the Los Angeles lineup.
During the regular season, Hernandez had a slight uptick in his power against left-handed pitchers. He’s also 3 for 8 with two doubles in his career against Jesus Luzardo, who starts Game 2 for the Phillies. Likewise, 14 of the 16 homers Luzardo gave up this year were against right-handed hitters, making Hernandez the biggest home run threat the Dodgers have.

We’ve chosen Contreras, but it might be worthwhile to target multiple members of the Milwaukee lineup. Chicago starter Shota Imanaga has given up at least one home run in 10 consecutive starts, including his Wild Card start against the Padres. In those 10 starts, he’s allowed multiple home runs five times.
Needless to say, that points to further trouble for Imanaga on Monday. Of the 31 home runs he allowed this season, 27 were hit by right-handed batters, which is what leads us to Contreras. While he only had 17 homers during the season, with Jackson Chourio banged up, Contreras is the best right-handed power option in Milwaukee’s lineup. He’s also 3 for 10 with two home runs in his career against Imanaga.

The Brewers are throwing a curveball in Game 2, as Aaron Ashby will start as the opener, with Quinn Priester likely to follow. Despite the Brewers technically starting a lefty, Busch is still Chicago’s best power option. He led the Cubs in home runs during the regular season and already has two homers in the playoffs.
In fact, Busch has six home runs and four multi-hit games over his last nine games, dating back to the end of the regular season. He’s also a good example of targeting the hot hand during the playoffs. While Ashby will be a tough matchup, Busch is 2 for 8 with a home run in his career against Priester, so he’s still in a good spot to go deep again in Game 2.
