Early Career Struggles at Kansas

Kansas was Kyle Busch's Achilles heel for quite some time.

The 2015 champion has started all but one of the 23 Cup Series races at the track.

Busch has only one win in those 22 starts.

The 1.5-mile oval remained a thorn on his side for more than a decade.

His first top 10 finish came at his third start, with a sixth-place result.

It would take another six races for Kyle Busch to score a second top 10 finish.

Kansas has been part of the postseason schedule since the format's introduction in 2004.

This means that Kyle Busch's title challenges often came to an end at the track.

Following a dominant regular season in 2008, the #18 had troubled races at New Hampshire and Dover.

A 27th place finish at Kansas sealed away his chances at the championship.

A crash in 2013 brought yet another strong title charge to an early end.

Busch's fortune at the track started to turn around in 2014.

The Joe Gibbs Racing driver developed into a genuine title contender, significantly improving on his postseason performance.

This was also the case for his results at Kansas.

Following three consecutive DNFs and a 15th place finish as the best result, he returned to the top 10.

The #18 scored a career-best third place finish at Kansas in the 2014 spring race.

His first win came in 2016, taking the spring race's checkered flag.

Busch went on to score five consecutive top 5 finishes from 2014 to 2016.

He now has eight consecutive top 10 results at Kansas, with six of those being top 5 finishes.

Kyle Busch Could be in the Hunt for Another Win at Kansas

Despite his poor record at Kansas, Busch is expected to be among the contenders.

His form has improved significantly in recent years, as #18 has not finished outside the top 10 in eight starts.

The #18 leads the standings 15 points ahead of reigning series champion Joey Logano.

He also leads all drivers with three wins this season.

Busch has yet to finish outside the top 10 in 2019, which is another impressive mark.

All in all, it's fair to say that Busch's past troubles at Kansas have been left behind.

While he only has one single win at the track, expect the Joe Gibbs driver to be among the contenders.
