Boston Celtics at Milwaukee Bucks Predictions and Odds
Here’s a difficult matchup. The Celtics have been less consistent over the course of the season, but have played the Milwaukee Bucks well. Whether or not Kemba Walker is available may be the difference. Still, with the NBA restart who knows what teams’ shooting form will be like. That’s where the Milwaukee Bucks’ fast-paced offense will thrive.

The Boston Celtics seem to be on an exponential growth curve this season. Despite not having a singular, All-NBA level player, the Celtics’ team-oriented attack on both ends of the court has led to their success.
While the loss of Kyrie Irving hurt, Kemba Walker has filled his shoes admirably this season. The emergence of Jayson Tatum as an All-Star and Jaylen Brown as a key piece has fueled their team to victory.
The season series is tied between the Celtics and the Bucks, mainly due to Boston’s ability to pack the paint. Kemba Walker has been dealing with a knee issue, so if he becomes unavailable their defence will have to be even tighter to make up for his lost scoring.

Is there a team in the NBA that looks more impressive than the Milwaukee Bucks? Scoring on the inside or from three, defending the paint, or running the break, the Bucks are one of the premier sides in the league.
While their team effort is notable, it is clear that they are a shadow of themselves without MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo leading them. With a 5-3 record without the reigning league MVP on the court, the long break has allowed Antetokounmpo plenty of rest.
The Bucks have struggled against the Celtics at times this season. They are a talented scoring team in isolation, bypassing the Bucks’ plan to run teams off of the line. In order to defeat their Eastern Conference rivals, their individual defending must match their team defence.
Milwaukee Bucks Roster Notes
(F) Thanasis Antetokounmpo – 24 July 2020 – Day To Day (Head) – Antetokounmpo is being evaluated for concussion-like symptoms after taking a headfirst fall onto the court in Thursday’s scrimmage (July 23).
(G) Eric Bledsoe – 24 July 2020 – Day To Day (Covid) – Bledsoe is back practicing after testing positive for Covid, the team is hopeful that he will be ready for their restart opener on July 31 against the Celtics.
(G) Pat Connaughton – 20 July 2020 – Day To Day (Illness) – Connaughton tested positive for Covid and is not with the team yet in Orlando, according to Matt Velazquez of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. He says he’s feeling good, but it is not clear when he will be ready for action.

The Boston Celtics are strong all over the court. Due to Brad Stevens’ egalitarian game plan on offense and defense, he employs a rather small lineup in order to empower his players’ switchability and ball movement.
Where the Celtics tend to struggle is on the defensive glass. They are ranked 19th overall in offensive rebounds allowed, giving their opponents an average of 10.2-second chances per game.
When you play the likes of Jayson Tatum or Gordon Hayward at power forward, you are always going to give up some rebounding. However, against a generational talent in Antetokounmpo and a dangerous pivot duo in the Lopez twins, the Celtics will need to rebound as a unit in order to stop the Bucks.

The Milwaukee Bucks have made their name this season off of an efficient offensive scheme. The core of that system, as implemented by Mike Budenholzer, is a simple one – attacking the fast break.
With Antetokounmpo at the point of attack, the talents of their young star create a fast break every time he gets the rebound. With a downhill charge not seen since LeBron James, Antetokounmpo can score or dish to capable shooters like Lopez, Matthews, and Middleton. At 18.6 points per game, the Bucks are third in fast-break points per game.
The Celtics have some mobile big men in Daniel Theis and Grant Williams. If they choose to attack with speed, they’ll need to confirm the rebound before Boston’s energetic frontcourt can secure the rebound for themselves.
