  • (G) Lou Williams – 29.6 MPG | 19.3 PPG | 5.9 APG | 3.1 RPG

The LA Clippers reside at third in the Western Conference. With a chance to bring themselves level with the Denver Nuggets, they faltered against the Philadelphia 76ers. Still on their road trip, the LA Clippers have a 17-10 record away from home.

The Clippers are coming off of a disappointing loss to the Philadelphia 76ers. Despite competing with the Eastern Conference outfit all game, they were unable to find their scoring touch late and found themselves on the wrong end of the box score.

They’ll look to redeem themselves against the Boston Celtics. Boston is a capable defensive team, so the Clippers will need to work on their late game execution if they hope to get back on the winning track.

Boston Celtics (Home)

Head Coach: Brad Stevens {All-Time 307-237 | BOS}

Projected Starting Five: (G) Kemba Walker – (G) Jaylen Brown – (F) Jayson Tatum – (F) Gordon Hayward – (C) Daniel Theis

Season Record: 37-16

Top Performers

  • (F) Jayson Tatum – 33.9 MPG | 22.2 PPG | 6.9 RPG | .387 3P%
  • (G) Kemba Walker – 32.0 MPG | 22.0 PPG | 5.0 APG | 4.0 RPG
  • (G) Jaylen Brown – 33.7 MPG | 20.2 PPG | 6.5 RPG | 2.2 APG

The Boston Celtics currently sit at third in the Eastern Conference, a whole two games behind the Toronto Raptors. Despite their strong early start, the Celtics have faltered due to serious offensive inconsistency.

The Celtics struggled in their last match against the Houston Rockets, as they’ve struggled all year. Despite their defensive ability, they were overcome at times by fantastic perimeter shooting.

Boston will take on a dangerous team in the LA Clippers. As strong on the attack as they are on defense, the Clippers are built to break down a switching defense like the Celtics’ own.

What’s at Stake?

The LA Clippers and the Boston Celtics maintain a one-sided regular-season series. Over the course of 69 meetings, the Celtics lead the Clippers 42-27.

A win for the Boston Celtics would keep them at third in the Eastern Conference.

A win for the LA Clippers would bring them within half a game of the second-place Denver Nuggets.

Questions to Answer

Can the LA Clippers get back into shooting form?

Will the Boston Celtics be able to keep pace?

We are going to compare the LA Clippers and the Boston Celtics in an attempt to see who has the advantage in this matchup.

LAC: Can the Clippers Sort Out Their Shooting?

In the LA Clippers’ last match against the Philadelphia 76ers did not go to plan. Despite going into halftime without a deficit, the Clippers failed to execute in the clutch in order to take home the win for themselves.

It isn’t their late-game execution that they need to improve on though, but their efficiency throughout the game.

While role players completed their tasks – Zubac shot 3-3, Morris 5-12, and Shamet 7-11 – it was star players Lou Williams and Paul George that combined to shoot 8-30 to sink their team.

Kawhi Leonard’s inside game continues to drive their success, but he needs more support from his teammates if they hope to succeed. If the Clippers hope to defeat the Celtics’ swarming defense, Paul George and Lou Williams need to be better.

BOS: Keep the Pace!

The Boston Celtics are a smart, methodical team on both ends of the court. However, they have struggled when teams choose to forego their swarming defense and attack their individual pieces.

In their last game against the Rockets, Houston did just that. Harden and Westbrook attacked in turns, with little opportunity for their teammates. An especially unique offense, that seemed to unintentionally unravel the Celtics.

Boston faces a similar problem with the Clippers. Loaded with capable isolation scorers, the Celtics’ defenders are not so mighty on an island. If Boston hopes to win the day, they’ll have to step up individually or recover very quickly.

LA Clippers Roster Notes

(G) Patrick Beverley – 10 Feb 2020 – Out (Groin) – Beverley is out for Tuesday’s (Feb. 11) game against Philadelphia.

Boston Celtics Roster Notes

(G) Jaylen Brown – 10 Feb 2020 – Day To Day (Ankle) – Brown is probable for Tuesday’s (Feb. 11) game against Houston.

(C) Robert Williams – 8 Feb 2020 – Out (Hip) – The Celtics are aiming for Williams to return at the beginning of March, according to Darren Hartwell of NBCsports.com.

Head-to-Head: (G) Lou Williams vs (G) Kemba Walker

Two of the most dangerous scoring guards in the NBA face off when the Clippers and the Celtics clash. Both are coming off of forgettable evenings in recent losses, so they will look to get back on track against each other.

(G) Lou Williams (6-1, 175lb (185cm, 79kg) | USA | 14 Years)

Lou Williams had a forgettable night in his last match against the Philadelphia 76ers. Going 5-15 from the field and only 2-6 from three, Williams’ 13 points was both inefficient and not enough to help his team take the victory. To beat the Celtics he must find his range, as well as improve on his mere two free throw attempts in his last game.

(G) Kemba Walker (6-0, 172lb (183cm, 78kg) | UConn | 8 Years)

SeasonAgeTeamGamesMPPTSREBASTFG%3P%

Kemba Walker is coming off of an unfortunate outing against the Rockets. While he was poor from the field, he also couldn’t keep his opponents in front of him on the defensive side of the ball. He has to contribute to the box score if he wants to make up for his defensive inefficiencies.

LA Clippers at Boston Celtics Predictions

Why the LA Clippers Will Win

The individual talent on the Clippers is near unmatched in the NBA. If they can find their range early, it is unlikely the Celtics can compete. With their size, their ability on the glass should also be difficult to manage.

Why the Boston Celtics Will Win

Boston moves the ball with purpose and selflessness. If the Celtics can find each other’s good looks, while maintaining a modest defensive stand, they can take a surprise win from the Western Conference titans.
